You could win a diamond ring and a chance to propose during the biggest football game of the year!  Enter the Duncan & Boyd Jewelers Super Proposal contest for a chance to propose on-air during television coverage of the Super Bowl.

The Prizes: The winner will receive a diamond engagement ring from Duncan & Boyd Jewelers valued at $10,000.

 

Additionally, the lucky couple will receive a one week get-away to Los Cabos, Mexico, including airfare for two (coach) and accommodations at Melia Cabo Real Resort, a Wedding Dress valued at up to $1000 and Tuxedo valued at up to $500 from Brides, a Bridal bouquet from Enchanted Florist, a Wedding Cake from Cakes and More, a gift certificate worth $400 toward bridal registry and a $400 gift certificate toward wedding invitations from Little Brown House. How to enter: To fill out the registration click here. Tell us why you want to be chosen to do the super proposal. Upload a picture of you and your significant other. All entries will be kept private. We will not display your entry on the website. After you submit online you will be emailed a copy of your entry. To complete your entry print out the email of your submission and deliver it to Duncan & Boyd Jewelers at 809 S. Tyler, Amarillo TX, 79101. The last day to enter is Sunday January 22, 2012. The winner will be chosen on Monday January 23, 2012. You must provide a phone number.

Eligibility: Must be 21 years of age or older to enter, and must live within the Amarillo DMA. Both Recipients must be available on February 5th between 3pm and 6pm for live footage. The proposal will be broadcast on-air during the game. Both recipients must also be available for various live Studio 4 appearances.

But, while you’re stuffing yourself with turkey, load up your smartphone with the latest apps that will help you figure out if that deal really is a steal.

Apps that let you scan a barcode, like TheFind (iOS and Android), should be your constant companions. When you find an item you like, open the app and scan the bar code. Once it recognizes the product, it will return a list of where it’s available, both online and in nearby stores, and for how much. It will also give you a map to the store you choose.

 

TheFind has been updated to include catalogs from major merchants like Nordstrom, Crate & Barrel, and the Best Buy weekly sales flier. You can check prices there, and link right through to the store to make a purchase. In addition, you’ll be notified of any coupon codes or deals available, like free shipping.

 

The app also syncs with the website, so anything you save on your phone will show up on your computer for comparison shopping later on.

Fatwallet.com is already an online destination when you’re searching for coupon codes. Now you can also get their Black Friday Deal Finder. The 2011 mobile version displays major retailers’ ads so you can search, organize, and get ready to shop.

 

The app lets you sort by store or by category, and gives you the option to filter your results into subcategories, like brand, type of item and price range. You can also search for deals by free shipping, rebates, and whether or not an item is a doorbuster deal.

Coupon Sherpa gives iPhone, iPad and iPod iOS users access to in-store mobile coupons and printable coupons found on the Internet for many popular retailers.

 

If you’re in a store about to make a purchase, just fire up the app and check to see if there’s an additional coupon available for extra savings. There are also coupons for grocery stores, but last we checked, not many of the big chains near us were listed. Coupons can be scanned right from your device if the retailer has the upgraded optical scanner, or they can be keyed in by the cashier. If you find the deal of the century, or at least the season, email the coupon to a friend.
